The Sony Ericsson Update Service makes it simple to sync your mobile phone to your PC.

The Sony Ericsson Update Service is a service from Sony that supports Sony and Sony Ericsson phones and other devices. The program that provides and accesses these services is called the Sony Ericsson PC Suite. Simply install the program onto your PC. There’s no need to configure it. Once it detects an appropriate device connected to your PC, it will enable the appropriate features.

You can connect your device via USB using a micro-USB or USB to USB cable. You also have the option of connecting via Bluetooth if your motherboard supports Bluetooth natively or you’re using a Bluetooth dongle or PCI card. Infrared is also an option. You can set the software to automatically synchronize your device to folders and files stored on your PC. You can also manually back up and restore some or all of the files that are stored on the device internally or on an SD card or similar.

If you have to replace your phone or data becomes corrupted, restoring to your old configuration is a simple as a single button press. If the problem is with the OS itself, the repair installation operation can fix it while preserving your files. The suite also provides editing options that are accessible from your phone but easier from your PC, such as adjusting your calendar or transferring photos.

As the name suggest, you can also use the Sony Ericsson Update Service to update your phone to the latest available software. It can also provide the computer its installed on Internet or LAN access via tethering. Let’s say you have a laptop with no Internet but Web access via cellular on your phone. Connect your phone to your laptop, run this program and enjoy the World Wide Web.

Sony Ericsson began as a joint venture between Ericsson and Sony. Later, it would simply become Sony Mobile. Most Sony Ericsson devices and this software became deprecated when that happened. Still, if you have a Sony Ericsson device not supported by newer Sony software, this app will do the trick.
